Unlock the art of woodturning in this hands-on Pen Turning Workshop, where you’ll create a one-of-a-kind ballpoint pen from start to finish. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you’ll learn the essential skills of turning wood on a lathe, shaping and sanding your piece to perfection, and applying a smooth, durable finish.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll have access to all the tools and materials needed to craft your pen, and our expert instructors will provide step-by-step instructions to ensure you leave with a polished, functional writing instrument. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have previous woodworking experience, this class is designed to be fun and educational for all skill levels.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created your own handcrafted pen—ideal for personal use or as a thoughtful gift. All pens created in this class are designed for comfort and balance, offering a truly enjoyable writing experience.

Continued for 2025: When you participate in your first woodturning event of the year, you’ll automatically become a member of the Overocker Wood-Turners League (OWL). Restrictions:

Woodworking is inherently dangerous. Please come dressed appropriately and prepared to get dusty. For your safety please consider the following:

  • Wear comfortable closed toed shoes or boots.
  • Long hair will need to be tied back.
  • Do not wear loose fitting clothing or dangling jewelry.
  • Leave rings, bracelets and watches at home.
  • Avoid wearing hoodies or any garment that has a string. If worn these stings will need to stay tucked in or the garment will need to be removed.
  • Long sleeves will need to be rolled up while using power tools.
